Community Cup

Community Cup is a neighborhood coffee shop opening its doors for the first time. The campaign turns a grand opening into something the whole block wants to show up for: warm, retro, and unmistakably local.

Brewing community, one coffee at a time.

The Concept

A friendly face for a new corner shop.

Community Cup is a fictional coffee shop about to open its doors, and the poster had one job: reflect a brand that serves top-tier coffee in a cozy, inclusive space, while showing my own creative voice.

I chose a 1950s diner aesthetic for its welcoming charm and broad appeal. Rather than photography, I used a cheerful, walking coffee-cup mascot to bring personality and energy to the brand. His friendly smile and sense of movement are meant to make customers of all ages feel invited.

Every choice centered on the customer experience, building excitement so the grand opening feels like an event the whole community wants to attend.

Mood Board

Visual direction.

This mood board set the look and feel for the poster. I pulled from vintage coffee ads and diner signage to shape a cheerful, mid-century vibe. The swatches on the right confirmed the turquoise, orange, cream, and dark brown palette.

The board directly guided key choices in the final piece. Arched type inspired the curved discount line, circles led to the round badge, and the star shapes became background accents. Type tests helped me choose Firula for headlines and Gill Sans for body copy.

The Takeaway

The mascot, the palette, and the arched type all work toward one thing: turning a grand opening into an event the whole neighborhood circles on the calendar.
